ABSTRACT
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technology is a highly complex process connected with high risk and uncertainty due the variability underground strata, often limited access to specialised equipment, dynamic natural environment, technical disruptions, human factor changes in economic environment that further complicate gathering of reliable information data. This work presents new evaluation model tailored for HDD technology, which failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) modelling were applied. This paper focuses on 15 factors 9 equipment technology. The proposed approach takes into account not only probability occurrence, but also its severity possibility detecting faults, clearly separated analyzed previous works.Application shows relationship between detection failures. Moreover, many possibilities identified failures presented. The calculated priority numbers allowed rank identify most critical risks one should look treatment beyond cause reduction, such as transfer, elimination or active retention.
