ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the effects of Echinacea purpurea (EP) root on growth performance and some haematological parameters juvenile common carp (Cyprinus carpio). meal incorporated into diets as follows: no (E-0), 5 g kg−1 diet (E-5), 10 (E-10) 20 (E-20). Triplicate groups fish averaging 9.6 ± 0.5 were hand-fed twice daily for 60 days. At end feeding trial, weight gain (WG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), specific rate (SGR) significantly higher in fed Echinacea-supplemented than those control diet. Red blood cell count (RBC) white (WBC) E-10 E-20 E-0 group. Fish had highest haematocrit (Hct), haemoglobin (Hb) among all treatments. The nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) assay showed a significant increase compared E-5 groups.   After 14-day challenge with Aeromonas hydrophila, Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed differences survival between treatments. Survival following group, whereas group difference In conclusion, our findings that supplementing EP (10 kg-1 diet) can enhance performance, parameters, resistance A. hydrophila carp.
