ABSTRACT
To describe the diagnostic utility and clinical safety of ultrasonographically guided percutaneous pyelocentesis antegrade pyelography in cats dogs.Retrospective case series.39 10 dogs with 55 affected kidneys.Medical records were reviewed to identify that underwent between June 1, 2007, December 31, 2015. Data collected included procedure descriptions; results imaging, urine cytologic evaluation, bacterial culture; evidence complications. Animals assigned group (underwent only pyelocentesis) or followed immediately by pyelography).The rate for was 94% (31/33; 95% confidence interval [CI], 80.4% 98.9%). The total, minor, major complication rates both treatment groups combined 25% (95% CI, 15.8% 38.3%), 24% 14.4% 36.3%), 2% 0.09% 9.6%), respectively. Performing culture obtained did not provide an advantage over performing from lower urinary tract.Findings indicated well-tolerated techniques investigating upper tract disease had a higher than previously reported; therefore, should be considered identification mechanical functional ureteral patency abnormalities dogs.
