ABSTRACT
Various magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques including T2*-weighted imaging, susceptibility-weighted and MR relaxometry had been performed to evaluate different patterns of brain iron depositions in Parkinsonian syndrome. The aim the present study was diagnostic value a volume interest (VOI) analysis on principles echo shifting with train observations (PRESTO) using statistical parametric mapping (SPM) 8 WFU PickAtlas program for diagnosis syndrome.,Methods: Fifty subjects, 13 variant multiple system atrophy (MSA-P), 12 progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), Parkinson's disease (PD) controls were evaluated this study. After spatial normalization PRESTO images SPM8, create target VOIs putamen, red nucleus, substantia nigra, subthalamic dentate nucleus. signal intensity ratio (SIR) calculated by normalizing each VOI that cerebrospinal fluid space. These SIRs used as determinants receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses.SIR putamen significantly lower MSA-P than PSP (P = 0.0051) 0.0004). In contrast, SIR nucleus 0.0003), PD 0.0029), 0.0011). ROC analyses, exhibited highest areas under curves (AUCs) 0.83 (vs. PSP) 0.91 controls) MSA-P. On other hand, AUCs 0.87 MSA-P), 0.90 PD), 0.89 PSP.The based spatially normalized may be useful depicting hypointensity, indicative abnormal depositions, PSP.
