ABSTRACT
Background: Obstructive jaundice can be caused by malignant or benign origin. The treatment for these situations includes drainage biliary stenting. aim of this study was to evaluate the success rate Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in evaluating obstructive and plastic stent placement. Method: We conducted a retrospective based on data ERCP Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital from October 2004 until July 2007. Results: evaluated 100 patients who had undergone examination, 92 (92%) them clinical diagnosis (direct bilirubin > indirect bilirubin). Those with were found have no malignancy 47 (51.1%) patients, 28 (30.4%) 17 (18.5%) would further diagnostic evaluation. descriptive 36 tried Nineteen (52.8%) succeed placement; whereas (47.2%) failed. Further evaluation showed that age sex did not affect successfulness, factor failure (malignancy: 16 fail 6 successes (27.3%) vs. non malignancy: 1 13 (92.85%). Conclusion: has acceptable patients.
