ABSTRACT
Surgical landmarks for defining the level of skull base during endoscopic sinus and surgery (ESBS), e.g., middle turbinate, may be distorted by tumor or previous surgery. The orbital floor is a valid fixed anatomic landmark white population, but it not known if its use useful an Asian population. To define ESBS in population to compare relation with between populations.Computed tomographies performed on paranasal sinuses Thai patients were retrospectively assessed. distance nasal four structures, floor, sphenoid planum, cribriform, ethmoid roof, measured. related was compared data from previously published study.A total 150 (300 systems) assessed patients. always below (600 sides [100%]). When patients, had significantly higher mean (standard deviation [SD]) values: (35.2 ± 3.4 mm versus 33.9 3.0 mm; p < 0.001), roof (49.3 3.8 48.4 4.5 = 0.01), cribriform (46.4 3.6 44.0 3.7 (45.7 44.9 0.01). (SD) longer cribiform (11.2 2.5 10.1 2.7 shorter (10.5 3.3 11.0 2.9 0.03), similar (14.1 3.1 14.5 3.5 0.09).Although statistical difference exists racial groups, clinically, both populations.
