ABSTRACT
To assess the prevalence of burnout among emergency ambulance service workers in one station; to determine if there are any variances based on socio-demographic information such as gender, clinical grade and length service; examine distinctions between personal, work-related patient-related burnout; identify current workplace interventions reduce stress that will improve mental health well-being.Mixed methods - Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) was utilised, measuring across three domains (personal, patient-related) alongside collecting demographic role, full-time or part-time employment service. A free-text space available provide opinions causes how practice can be improved; these were analysed via thematic analysis.Seventy-eight staff members completed questionnaire. These were: 16 care assistants, 15 technicians 47 paramedics. Thirty-eight (48.7%) experienced personal burnout, 42 (53.8%) 29 (37.1%) burnout. It found those most at risk male employees with more than 10 years' experience employed within a paramedic position. Six themes identified through analysis: unnecessary callouts, shift patterns, support options, management, sickness absence job demands.Findings suggest is prevalent environment result long-term absences declining health.
