ABSTRACT
Purpose: Sustainability of agricultural production systems is an important issue, particularly in countries which heavily rely on this economic sector. Different methods have been proposed to assess sustainability such from various viewpoints. Nonetheless, limited attention has paid find key factors sustainability. While researchers often recognize ecological as the main element affecting sustainability, other play role a farming system, too. This study proposes method analyze determinants sustainable crop production, and applies it wheat cultivation Golestan Province, Iran. Methods: We used survey instrument gather data 234 farmers area. To measure cropping dependent variable, composite index was established based 13 individual related indicators using principal component analysis method. Results: The results path revealed that "technical knowledge" (with coefficient 0.806) highest impact Other variables "technology usage" (0.165), "farm income" (0.020), "accessibility extension education services" (0.561), supportive (0.021), "satisfaction job" (0.321), "social participation rural affairs" (0.047) positively "land fragmentation" (-0.313) negatively influenced system.Conclusion: Recommendations are provided for future policy makings improve processes systems.
