ABSTRACT
Space School UK (SSUK) is aseries ofsummer residential programmesfor secondary school agedstudents,held at the University of Leicester over 3 weeks each year. Each programme involves space-related activities run by a team mentors -currently including university students, graduates, teachers and young professionals associated with spacesector -all whom attendedSSUKas students themselves. It includes 6-day 8-day Senior (collectively SSUK) which are for 13–15 16–18 year olds respectively.This paper seeks to evaluate present benefits SSUKto individuals who participate in programme, organisations involved running SSUK,andtohighlightand promote these wider globalspace community.We also address facets SSUK make such an engaging encouraging experience that missing from students’ traditional education. We seek show how acts as excellent example bridge gap between tertiary space Through analysis our alumni survey results, we attending SSUKhas significant impact on career choices prepares Higher Education, regardless background. Some groups, females, those non-selective schools, reported higher insome areas than others.Metrics skills learned, goals achieved, alongside knowledge careers Education possibilities discussed various demographics.
