ABSTRACT
Inguinal hernias (IH) are widespread in the human population and occur 27–43 % of men 3–6 women. Many risk factors for IH have been overestimated last decade: male gender is considered leading factor (the ratio between women approximately 1:7), less significant heredity (most women), physical activity (more men), age (peak prevalence occurs at 5 years 70–80 years), congenital or acquired connective tissue dysplasia, history prostatectomy, low body mass index.Hernioplasty with use synthetic mesh prostheses remains most popular technique surgical correction IH. Performing non-prosthetic hernioplasty only recommended if not available, example poor countries. In open using prostheses, different methods used today: Plug & Patch, Prolene Hernia System, Parietene Progrip, sutureless plastic according to Trabucco, Stoppa, preperitoneal techniques TIPP (trans-inguinal pre-peritoneal), TREPP (transrectus TEP (total extraperitoneal), however, none them showed advantages over gold standard – tensionfree repair Liechtenstein.Laparoscopic represented by TAPP (transabdominal preperitoneal) technique, performed through abdominal cavity, extraperitoneal) extraperitoneal prosthetic hernioplasty. None has a advantage treatment IH; therefore, when choosing method, surgeon should be guided cost operation level proficiency one another technique.
