ABSTRACT
Background: This is a bibliometric study on the scientific papers of second generation (atypical) antipsychotic drugs (SGAs) from Taiwan. Methods: With EMBASE and MEDLINE databases, we chose published documents Taiwan with descriptors atypical*, antipsychotic*, second-generation clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, ziprasidone, quetiapine, sertindole, aripiprazole, paliperidone, amisulpride, zotepine, asenapine, iloperidone lurasidone. We used indicators production dispersion, i.e., Price's law increased papers, Bradford's dispersion. also calculated participation index different countries, correlated those data some social health (such as total per capita expenditure overall volume in field Psychiatry Neurology). Results: downloaded 359 SGA-related original 1993 to 2011:29.53% them were dealt clinical efficacy 40.11% tolerance safety. Our results fulfilled law, that SGA showed exponential growth (r = 0.9601, against an r 0.9305 after linear adjustment). OfSGA publications, most studied are clozapine (89 papers), risperidone (82), aripiprazole (74), olanzapine (62), quetiapine (22). Division into Bradford zones yielded nucleus exclusively Progress Neuro-Psychopharmacology Bio logical (56 articles). All 90 journals, 8 first 10 often journals for Taiwanese have impact factor being greater than 2. Conclusion: The been growing exponentially 1933-2011, without any evidence reaching saturation point.
