ABSTRACT
Background and aims: The vascular flora of Sierra de Velasco from La Rioja Province (northwestern Argentina), belonging to the extra-Andean range Sierras Pampeanas, has not been systematically studied. goal this work was describe plant diversity along its altitudinal gradient (1500-4300 m). M&M: Plant collections 2021 2024 in Costa Riojana zone Velasco, were carried out. Specimens processed determined, then deposited UNCAT herbarium at Centro Regional Investigaciones y Transferencia Tecnológica Rioja. Results: Two hundred sixty-nine species grouped 199 genera 81 families recorded. Asteraceae had greatest richness species, followed by Fabaceae, Cactaceae, Solanaceae, Poaceae, Verbenaceae. Forty-two taxa recorded for first time Province. Species Monte, Chaco, Yungas, Comechingones, Puna, High Andes phytogeographic regions are distributed ranges comparable with neighboring mountains. that inhabit highlands suggest a biogeographic connection Puna Húmeda. Conclusions: This systematic record vegetation allows understanding relationships provides key data conservation face climate change environmental degradation.
