ABSTRACT
We analyzed factors influencing the contamination rate of allografts and blood samples obtained from postmortem bone donors. 5,710 were harvested, 550 donors which 3,164 (55%) swab culture negative. Blood cultures positive in 140 (26%). The risk graft increased with each extra team member (Odds Ratio 1.9). It was also higher organisms greater virulence a (OR 3.5).The per hour 1.1) same increase seen high virulence. In multiple trauma, 8.2), but smaller preceding organ procurement 0.1). To minimize bacterial load, should be operating rooms, using aseptic techniques only few personnel for procurement. time kept to minimum. trauma carefully interpreted. taken into account, since these can help find not detected by cultures.
