ABSTRACT
Prior studies indicated that actively using social network sites (SNSs) is positively associated with well-being by enhancing support and feelings of connectedness. Conversely, passively SNSs negatively fostering upward comparison envy. However, the majority these has focused on Facebook. The present research examined relationships between well-being—satisfaction life, negative affect, positive affect—and or various SNSs—Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok—during COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, two mediators were tested: comparison. One thousand four persons completed an online survey during quarantine measures; analyses employed structural equation modeling. Results showed passive usage Facebook related to through comparison, whereas active Instagram satisfaction life affect support. Furthermore, Twitter was support; while which, in turn, more affect. Finally, TikTok use not well-being. are discussed line SNSs’ architectures users’ motivations. Future required go beyond methodological statistical limitations allow generalization. This study concludes must be differentiated truly understand how they shape human interactions.
