ABSTRACT
Introduction Metabolic Syndrome is a cluster of alterations, consequence continuum insulin resistance and chronic inflammation, being predisposing factor for the development several pathologies, including Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus cardiovascular diseases. Due to challenges inherent organizing screenings in large populations, fact that recent biochemical parameters are not always available different contexts, there tendency use simple cost-effective techniques, such as quick-administered questionnaires. The advantages relate ease administration, relatively short time, need blood samples lower associated costs. There validated instruments metabolic syndrome screening, although none yet used Portugal. One those “Encuesta de Identificación Sujetos Metabólicamente Comprometidos en Fase-I”, present work aims produce linguistically culturally adapted version Portuguese language, maintaining conceptual equivalence original. Methodology For translation, procedures standardized by Patient Reported Outcome Consortium were followed (Preparation, Translation, Reconciliation, Back-translation, Harmonization, Review, Cognitive Interview, Analysis, Final Review). Critical analysis translated tool was applied convenience sample target population consisting five individuals, it easy understand apply, with good acceptability, only minor adjustments two questions. Conclusion This can be clinical and/or community setting proving special interest occupational health services, since it’s workplace spends most their adult life, optimizing resources, promoting increasingly early referral treatment.
