Economics of potato (Solanum tuberosum L) production in Taplejung district of Nepal

ABSTRACT
Potato is staple crop of high hills in Nepal. It one the important crops to address food insecurity country. A study on economics potato production was conducted Fungling, Dokhu, Nangkholang and Hangdewa VDCs Taplejung district September 2010. Altogether 180 producers from 13 farmers’ group, which received membership Commercial Agriculture Alliance (CAA), were taken as sample by using purposive sampling technique. The regression analysis showed that income has significant contribution (P<0.01) total High Value (HVCs). Around 90 percent farmers area improved varieties seed such Desiree, Kufrijoti Cardinal. correlation between lowland upland growers weakly related (r= 0.18). Average per household for its productivity found 0.75 Ropani 844 Kg/Ropani, respectively. cost Kg NRs. 7.3. Means transportation headquarter human labor ranged 2-5 Kg.
