ABSTRACT
Background and Objectives: Diaphyseal femur fracture is one of the commonest fractures to present in an emergency room. The objective study was compare femoral shaft treated using nail with those plate screws. Patients Methods: We studied a total 62 patients admitted Bharatpur Hospital, Bharatpur, Chitwan National Academy Medical Sciences, BirHospital,Kathmandu. Two cases were lost follow up. Thirty plating 30 nailing. age group from 16-30 years. Fifty-three male seven females. Fifty-eight had closed two Gustillo Anderson grade I openfracture. Result: Time injury surgery 19 days on average. Mean time for union more by plating, 19.46 weeks as compared nailing 14.78 weeks. found case infection breakage four patients. One patient did not show any signs healing failure Our series revealed 23(38.3%) excellent, five (8.3%) good (3.3%) poor results who while 15 (25.5%) nine (15%) good, (1.7%) fair out each group. Conclusion:In our we that there no significant difference outcomes between intramedullary diaphysis terms union, implant failure.JCMS Nepal. 2016;12(2):66-9.
