ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTIONDiabetes mellitus is defined as the increase in blood glucose levels associated with a relative insulin deficiency, resistance or both. Datura stramonium commonly known Jimson weed belongs to family Solanaceae containing different types of alkaloids, saponins, tannins, steroids, flavonoids, phenols and glycosides. MATERIAL AND METHODSExtraction was done by maceration process using ethanol solvent. Swiss albino mice 20-35 gram were taken study animal. Diabetes induced Alloxan 20 mg/kg body weight Glibenclamide 10 used standard. Ethanolic extract low dose (50 mg/kg) high (100 subjected for Anti-diabetic activity. RESULTSThe treated 50 mg/kg, 100 standard showed highly significant reduction level (BGL) on 21st 28th day respectively when compared negative control group. Extract improvement density lipoprotein lipid profile gain food intake. but water CONCLUSIONThe present concludes that possesses potent anti-diabetic activity leaves.
