ABSTRACT
Background Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a condition occurring in elderly men which the prostate gland enlarged, hence also known as benign enlargement of prostate. can lead to both obstructive and irritative symptoms. Transurethral resection (TURP) still remains gold standard modality surgical treatment lower urinary tract symptoms due hyperplasia.Objectives The objective this study was evaluate outcomes TURP large (>80 grams) comparison small (<80 terms efficacy, safety complications.Methods A total 65 cases included prospective study, were operated by single surgeon with conventional monopolar using technique. Intra -operative post-operative complications, pre post- operative quality life (QoL) international symptom score (IPSS), time, time removal catheter hospital stay evaluated between volumes.Results Out cases, 30 size i.e. 80 grams or more (group 1), 35 than 2). Mean age 71.8 SD ± 6.9 years group 1 68.2 12.7 2. mean preoperative volume 88.8 (range 80-115 40.3 20-65 post void residual urine (PVRU) 244 ml 190.8 117 70.3 110 90-130) minutes 2 it 90 55-115) minutes. There quite satisfactory improvements IPSS QoL.
