ABSTRACT
Background: The treatment for MDR-TB characterized by rigorous regimen long duration, higher incidence of adverse side effects, lower cure rate, and high costs. This could lead to number psychosocial problems that influence adherence. patients registered under DOTS Plus programme during the period 2013-2014 in Chennai Madurai districts, Tamilnadu were included this study.Objective: To understand issues facing patients, who are diagnosed plus programme.Methodology: study used Focus Group Discussions with people MDR-TB. focused on physical, psychological, social economical challenges which faced their treatment.Results: Most participants did not disclose TB status, even family members. majority aware diagnosis duration treatment. Stigma from family, community health providers has been experienced patients. Patients families afraid losing economic stability was already precarious owing disease. fear often generated a great deal stress.Conclusion: Study finding indicates there is significant social, financial impact direct quality life families.
