ANALYTICAL STUDY ON DAMAGE FACTOR OF PILE FOUNDATIONS DURING THE 2011 OFF THE PACIFIC COAST OF TOHOKU EARTHQUAKE

The authors carried out static analyses using a foundation structure model in order to simulate the process leading distinctive damage of pile foundations during 2011 off Pacific coast Tohoku earthquake. Remarkable points proposed method were evaluation nonlinear load-deformation characteristics element and rotational stiffness at head depended on axial force formulation behaviors soil spring including group effect. Results obtained from analysis two stages failure piles for each loading direction explain fairly well actual foundations. can be considered as practical seismic design severe earthquakes.
