Perceived Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening among Eligible Adults in Qatar and Its Predictors: A Cross-Sectional Study

ABSTRACT
Background: In Qatar, colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common and projected to be more than triple by 2035. Therefore, CRC periodic screening vitally important because early detection will improve success of treatment. 2016, Qatar established a population-based program for targetting average-risk adults. This study aimed determine perceived barriers undergo in eligible adults associated factors. Methods: was cross-sectional individuals aged 50-74 years who have been never screened, across six primary health centers between September 2018 January 2019. A non-probability sampling method used recruit participants. Participants were interviewed using structured questionnaire. Descriptive analytic statistics applied. Results: total 188 participated study. The mean age participants 58.3 (SD ±6.4) years. Most females (54.5%) non-Qatari Arabs (54.3%). top five reported were: not at risk due absence symptoms (60.6%), family history (55.1%), adopting healthy lifestyle (52.7%), lack time (41%), reminders healthcare workers (39.4%). Bivariate analyses identified statistically significant associations certain female gender, nationality, educational level (primary school below). Conclusion: present several undergoing among Qatar. Such results provide basis tailoring future campaigns that are relevant, specific, appealing such cohort.
