ABSTRACT
The use of complementary and/or alternative medicine to increase the efficacy and decrease side effects current cancer treatment is highly required. In this in-vivo study, we aimed investigate anti-tumor activity probable a natural treatment, Cyrtopodion scabrum extract (CsE), in model tumor bearing mice.We established 28 female CT26-tumor balb/c-mice model. We divided them randomly into four groups (n=7): Negative control received distilled water (DW) three were administered with 5-FU two different doses (300 600 mg/kg) gecko aqueous extract, respectively. changes volumes weights during after along blood cell counts; spleen thymus indices assessed groups. have also measured serum TNF-α, VEGF, AST, ALT GSH, as well physical activities experimental found that means both CsE treated significantly lower than untreated group (p<0.05). Serum TNF-α VEGF levels remarkably caused RBC count, WBC index, index , while maintained these quantities, no significant changes, compared group. AST not changed none control.Altogether, data suggest C. scabrum, an effective safe anti-cancer source, which could be used alternative/complementary for patients who suffer from colon cancer.
