ABSTRACT
Pediatric arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and pial/dural fistulas (AVFs) are rare but life-threatening complications that can lead to congestive heart failure hemorrhagic stroke in newborns pediatric patients. The pronounced shunting these conditions is associated with early necessitates aggressive surgical management. Here, the authors describe endovascular treatment of an atypical cerebral pial AVF a newborn.This formed direct communication between major artery (basilar artery) large draining vein (dilated deep vein). performed earlier subtotal embolization using 0.020-inch coils, which led progressive thrombosis fistula restoration normal arterial blood flow. patient was discharged 18 days after surgery, examination at 1.5 6 months showed magnetic resonance imaging signs flow absence through satisfactory condition infant without physical mental developmental delay.Subtotal coiling high-flow newborn result good clinical outcome.
