ABSTRACT
The authors applied noise exposure and audiometry information collected on 156 Chinese textile workers to develop a method of identifying individuals susceptible noise-induced hearing loss. They estimated threshold shift (NIHTS) by averaging the adjusted thresholds at 3, 4, 6 kHz both ears, they fitted quadratic model describe dose-response relationship between cumulative NIHTS. residual actual NIHTS model-predicted indicated susceptibility. A comparison 20% subjects with greatest residuals (those who were loss) smallest resistant revealed that former had poorer hearing, although exposures similar. identified also poorest within each subgroup homogenous exposures. With their model-based procedure, able identify loss from heterogeneous
