ABSTRACT
We examined nasopharyngeal pneumococcal colonization density patterns surrounding acute respiratory illnesses (ARI) in young children Peru. Pneumococcal densities were dynamic, gradually increasing leading up to an ARI, peaking during the and decreasing after ARI. Rhinovirus co-infection was associated with higher densities.
