Work-Related Risk Factors for Musculoskeletal Disorder among Nurses in Indian Hospitals

ABSTRACT
Background.Due to the difficulties of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) that are common worldwide, medical personnel have been recognized as high-risk groups.Objective.To evaluate risk factors affect disorder among nurses in Indian hospitals.Methods.In this cross-sectional descriptive study, data were collected from 200 nursing staff working Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh, India.A self-management modified questionnaire (Nordic questionnaire) was used assess occurrence WMSD past 12 months.Results.Lower back pain (79%) followed by right shoulder neck (67%) knee (63%) highest female months.The prevalence MSD months dentistry (81.25%), orthopedics (62.5%) surgery (57.78%) department.For tasks require sitting, lower is (49.4%, n = 45) (40.6%, 37) elbows (38.4%, 35).The discomfort who worked more than 6 hours (76.1%, 35), (60.8%, 28) (56.5%, 26).Unexpectedly, 53.5% believed manual patient transfers leads on their body parts.In addition, 63.5% across all departments unexpectedly report they agree under work pressure/stress experienced MSDs.Conclusions.Nurses often a high neck; therefore, special measures should be taken ensure an ergonomic setting, appropriate mechanics applied limit likelihoods facing WMSD.
