ABSTRACT
To investigate the relationships between serum cytokine concentrations and chorioamnionitis (CAM) CAM-related bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in premature infants.Serum was collected at 0 7 days after birth from 36 infants born <32 weeks of gestation. We examined 30 CAM, BPD, other perinatal factors. On day 0, GM-CSF, IL-15, IL-17, IL-2, IL-2R, VEGF, MIG were significantly higher CAM group (n = 17) than non-CAM 19). These had decreased by similar both groups. The IL-12p70 concentration on lower BPD 16) non-BPD 15). incidence groups. These data support hypothesis that intrauterine inflammation is not a primary risk factor for BPD. immunological environment or soon after, rather fetal (e.g., CAM), onset preterm infants. Decreased inflammatory responses are particularly relevant, as indicated relationship low 0.
