This article would like to discuss the issue of contemporary waqf (Islamic endowment) practices in Islamic world today for ummah economic empowerment and development by choosing Turkey Indonesia as focus study. Among issues that is attracting attention be studied further regarding Muslim community acceptance its temporary implementation, shifting from previous definition almsgiving intended a perpetual purpose. The selection both countries based on large population, well representing different schools thought (Indonesia with Shafi'i school Hanafi school). By using literature studies interview competent parties field purposively research method which are then analyzed synthetically, this concludes existence will develop future, found Indonesia, one reasons benefit, efficiency right use assets donated.
