ABSTRACT
Carbon fiber laminates are susceptible to impact damage due the lack of fibers in direction impact. Often such can be difficult find with visual assessment, prompting need for detection via non-destructive testing techniques. This study quantifies diameters 22 layered CFRP coupons barely visible from 16J, 20J, and 24J energies ultrasonic testing. Compression after test measurements were also used ultimate compressive residual strength carbon laminates, further investigating negative correlation between energy mechanical properties damaged laminates. Finally, this paper offers preliminary insights into relationship internal size obtained using resultant reduction.
