ABSTRACT
Background: Most outcome studies in congenital cardiac surgery for “low weight” neonates include patients undergoing without cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). The primary objective of our study was to identify risk factors in-hospital mortality weighing less than 3 Kg and with CPB. In addition, we compared the effect early CPB (before 37W-gestational age (GA)) heart disease delayed until a corrected GA 37 weeks an attempt promote weight gain. Methods: Retrospective single-center including all operated between 1997 2017. Uni- multivariable analysis were used analyze outcome. Results: 143 included. median 2.7 49 (34.3%) weighted <2.5 Kg. 80% Risk stratification STAT categories ≥3. 114 (80%) delay (usual timing, 9 days), whereas 29 (20%) entered strategy (median 30 days). In-hospital 21.7%. By multivariate analysis, dysmaturity, preoperative positive ventilation, post-operative ECMO requirement or resuscitation, any residual lesion predictors death. usual timing group delayed 21.1% 24.1%, respectively (p = 0.71). prior 37W-GA (n 10) 27.3%. Conclusions: Predictors requiring did not differ from those unveiled other contemporary studies. Our data demonstrates that delaying selected resulted similar clinical
