Effectiveness of digital impressions in a predoctoral clinical curriculum.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present study was to investigate effectiveness digital impressions made by 3rd and 4th year dental students using a retrospective record review at one USA school during 1-year period.After reviewing patient records related quality assurance, 125 produced restorations were evaluated. Effectiveness acceptability associated with students' educational level, number prepared teeth scanned, type restoration, restorative material used. Fisher's exact chi-square tests used for statistical analysis. All had previous experience curriculum in their preclinical education.A total 91% acceptable, 80% clinically acceptable margins. Impression approval restoration acceptance not affected preparations or type. Restoration significantly (P = 0.039), higher rates marginal integrity found glass-ceramic zirconia materials.Within parameters study, students, after having extensive education curriculum, can utilize effectively clinical practice. results show that adequate experiences, use restorations. Dental schools should educate dentistry.
