ABSTRACT
Long-distance time and frequency transfer methods based on optical fibre links have evolved rapidly in recent years, demonstrating excellent performance for considerable promise accurate transfer. Optical links, besides provisioning extreme data rates, are attractive both very high-performance applications such as clock comparisons, basic research or relativistic geodesy, but also many industrial societal applications, they complement offer an alternative to radio- satellite-based methods. CLONETS-DS is a European Union-funded innovation action intended facilitate the vision of sustainable, pan-European network precise reference dissemination, by bringing together expertise from national metrology institutes (NMI), academic groups infrastructures (RI), education networks at level (NREN, GÉANT) innovative high-tech small medium enterprises (SME). The proposed project aims establish system Research Infrastructure which serves science community. It transmitting ultra information via fiber. builds several projects programmes NEAT-FT, OFTEN TiFOON, former GN3+ ICOF, novel work package 6, Time Frequency Network (OTFN), GN4-3 GÉANT its direct precursor CLONETS [1]. We now go far beyond previous efforts designing pan-European, ultra-precise time-and-frequency reference-system available This newly designed will consider user needs, architecture requirements, engineering models roadmaps, develop sustainability model future service, thus strengthening area potential.
