ABSTRACT
Development of Anthropometry-Based Equations for the Estimation Total Body Water in KoreansFor developing race-specific anthropometry-based total body water (TBW) equations, we measured TBW using bioelectrical impedance analysis (TBWBIA) 2,943 healthy Korean adults.Among them, 2,223 were used as a reference group. Two equations (TBWK1 and TBWK2) developed based on age, sex, height, weight. The adjusted R 2 was 0.908 TBWK1 0.910 TBWK2.The remaining 720 subjects validation our results.Watson (TBWW) Hume-Weyers (TBWH) formulas also used.In men, TBWBIA showed highest correlation with TBWH, followed by TBWK1, TBWK2 TBWW.TBWK1 lower root mean square errors (RMSE) prediction (ME) than TBWW TBWH.On Bland-Altman plot, correlations between differences means smaller TBWK1.On contrary, TBWW, TBWK2, TBWH females.RMSE smallest TBWH.ME closest to zero TBWH.The coefficients lowest TBWK2.In conclusion, provides better accuracy bias or males.TBWK2 shows similar accuracy, but females.
