ABSTRACT
Background: Atherosclerosis is closely associated with proliferation of the adventitial vasa vasorum, leading to atherosclerotic plaque progression and vulnerability. In this report, we investigated role Ginsenoside Rb 1 (Rb ) on stabilization vasorum (VV) along mechanisms involved. Methods Results: Apolipoprotein E-deficient (ApoE −/− mice were fed a high-fat diet for 20 weeks, then (50 mg/kg/d, intraperitoneal) was given 4 weeks. treatment significantly inhibited VV proliferation, alleviated inflammation, decreased burden, stabilized plaques in apoE mice. However, beneficial effects lesion attenuated by overexpression miR-33. The analysis from revealed that could result an induction Pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) expression reduction miR-33 generation. Overexpression reverted -mediated elevation PEDF anti-angiogenic effect. Conclusions: attenuates growth enhances stability partially through inhibiting inflammation anti-inflammation are exerted via modulation its target gene PEDF.
