ABSTRACT
Acupuncture is a widely practiced, convenient, and safe treatment modality within complementary integrative medicine. Increasing studies have revealed the efficacy of acupuncture for osteoporosis in both human non-human subjects. The aim present study was to assess improvement after overall adjustment (OA) as well its endocrine-modulating effect an ovariectomized rat model. In total, 32 female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into sham, model, ovariectomy+estrogen (OVX+E), OVX+OA (OVX+A) groups with eight each group. postmenopausal (PMOP) model induced by bilateral ovariectomy. At 12 weeks surgery, OVX+E group received estradiol (0.2 mg/kg/i.g./qod) weeks, OVX+A treated at Zusanli (ST36), Shenshu (BL23), Dazhu (BL11) points (qod) weeks. end treatment, all sacrificed, body weight, uterus index, bone mineral density (BMD), content (BMC), trabeculae structural parameters, femoral biomechanical properties, histomorphology, several hormone levels examined. In OVX rats, OA abrogated weight gain improved terms BMD, BMC, strength, tissue histomorphology. Moreover, modulated serum estradiol, corticotropin releasing (CRH), adrenocorticotropic (ACTH), corticosterone (CORT).OA improves exerts rats.
