ABSTRACT
Health Interpreters enable effective communication between health practitioners and patients with limited knowledge of the predominant language. This study developed evaluated a training session introducing to genetics. The online was delivered multiple times as single 2-h comprising lectures activities. Participants completed questionnaires (pre-, post-, 6-months follow-up) assess impact on knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, self-reported practice behaviour. Questionnaires were analysed using descriptive statistics, Fisher's Exact, or independent t-test. In total, 118 interpreters participated in sessions. Respondent improved, gains maintained at (p < 0.01). There no changes attitudes. Training did not change behaviour, but there notable pre-existing variability participants' methods managing unknown genetic words. Most respondents agreed that useful (93%) relevant (79%) their work. More reported learning more from case activity (86%) than group (58%). found acceptable demonstrated sustained improvement concepts. Increased delivery this associated research is needed findings larger cohort measure patients.
