ABSTRACT
Prospective observations of functional recovery are lacking in patients with autoimmune encephalitis defined by antibodies against synaptic proteins and neuronal cell surface receptors.Adult a diagnosis were included into prospective registry. At 3, 6 12 months follow-up, the patients' modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was obtained.Patients stratified three groups according to their antibody (Ab) status: anti-NMDAR-Ab (n=12; group I), anti-LGI1/CASPR2-Ab (n=35; II), other (n=24; III). A comparably higher proportion I received plasma exchange/immunoadsorption second line immunosuppressive treatments at baseline. II presented seizures. Group III mainly anti-GABABR-, anti-GAD65- anti-GlyR-Ab. baseline, one third them had cancer. Patients much median mRS scores 3 compared II. 1 found all follow-up time points II.The different dynamics certain encephalitides have important implications for clinical trials. The high significant disability after need improving treatment options. More distinct rather than necessary differentiate potential neurological improvements anti-LGI1-/CASPR2-encephalitis.
