Effect of Patent Expiry on the Performance of Innovator Multinational Pharmaceutical Companies in a Low Middle Income Country

ABSTRACT
Patent expiry or loss of exclusivity exposes innovator pharmaceutical companies to changes in the market dynamics brought about by increased production generics rival after patent expiration. This current study focused on effect generic products manufacturing and competitive pressures, price changes, sales volumes profitability multinational expiry. The methodology this involved a descriptive survey design utilized both qualitative quantitative techniques for data collection, analysis, presentation. Primary were collected using key informants' in-depth interviews questionnaires. top management, including regional managers, general directors each eight participating study, interviewed gather data. Thirty-six respondents comprising Product Development Managers Business Supervising responded questionnaire through purposive sampling. Findings depicted significant subsequent decline performance industry. recommends that operating low-income countries, such as Kenya, develop strategic policies tap into leveraging collaborative with share revenues.
