ABSTRACT
In the present study, sympathetic skin response (SSR) characteristics were explored in children with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and value of early diagnosis prognostic evaluation GBS complicated by autonomic dysfunction (AD) was evaluated.A total 25 30 healthy controls (HCs) enrolled this prospective study. SSR findings for two groups compared. nerve conduction study (NCS) results compared among patients GBS, differences clinical between abnormal normal analyzed.Within group, six (24%) required mechanical ventilation, 17 (66.7%) had AD, 18 (72%) an SSR, 13 (52%) AD combined abnormalities. There a statistically significant difference latency lower limbs group HCs (P < 0.05). no NCS acute phase > 0.05), there rate or Hughes functional grade at nadir (P>0.05). However, tests during recovery = 0.003). Abnormal mainly occurred cases inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (AIDP) subtype. addition, all pediatric poor prognosis 1 month after onset symptoms.Two-thirds have AD. could be used follow-up may also helpful evaluating disease severity short-term prognosis.
