ABSTRACT
Introduction Children with infantile epileptic spasms syndrome (IESS) are likely to experience poor outcomes. Researchers have investigated the factors related its long-term prognosis; however, none of them developed a predictive model. Objective This study aimed clarify that influence prognosis seizures and their development create prediction model for IESS. Materials methods We conducted retrospective cohort enrolling participants diagnosed IESS at Tottori University Hospital. examined seizure developmental status 3 7 years after onset divided into favorable outcome groups. Subsequently, we analyzed associated group by setting cutoff values using receiver operating characteristic curve. Results Data were obtained from 44 patients (19 female 25 male patients). Three (ES) onset, outcomes in 15 (34.9%) 27 (61.4%) patients, respectively. The persistence ES or tonic (TS) 90 days moderate severe magnetic resonance imaging abnormalities, delay before significantly Seven ES, 9 (45.0%) 13 (72.2%) found no factor was outcomes, only Our demonstrated 86.7% sensitivity 64.3% specificity predicting 88.9% 100% Conclusion may be useful years. Understanding during initial treatment facilitate selection appropriate treatment.
