ABSTRACT
Introduction Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) are well-established, evidence-based, time-critical therapies that reduce morbidity mortality in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. The exclusion of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is mandatory has been performed by cerebral imaging to date. Mobile units (MSUs) have shown improve functional outcomes bringing IVT directly the patient, but they limited coverage. Blood biomarkers clearly distinguishing between AIS, ICH, mimics (SM) could provide an alternative if concentration changes detectable hyperacute phase after with high diagnostic accuracy. In this study, we will take blood samples a prehospital setting evaluate potential biomarkers. study was registered German Clinical Trials Register ( https://drks.de/search/de ) identifier DRKS00023063. Methods analysis We plan prospective, observational involving 300 patients suspected symptom onset ≤4.5 h before collection Study participants be recruited from three sites Berlin, Germany during MSU deployments. focus at scene AIS or ICH second-time point. All analyzed using targeted untargeted analytical approaches. Study-related information about participants, including medical discharge diagnoses subsequent treating hospital, collected documented electronic case report form (eCRF). Discussion This whether single biomarker combination can distinguish SM early setting. addition, kinetics investigated. Our goal new ways reliably diagnose thus accelerate application evidence-based
