ABSTRACT
Introduction Dizziness is a growing public health concern with as many 95 million adults in Europe and the United States experiencing vestibular hypofunction, which associated reduced quality of life, poorer health, falls. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) effective reducing symptoms improving balance; however, limited access to qualified clinicians poor patient adherence impedes optimal delivery. The goal this study was develop evaluate feasibility remote therapeutic monitoring VRT Platform application (APP) for assessment treatment dysfunction. Methods User-centered iterative design process used gather integrate needs users (clinicians patients) into at each stage development. Commonly patient-reported outcome measures (PROs) were integrated APP chronic dizziness enrolled validity reliability compared standard clinical (CLIN). Gaze stabilization exercises gamified provide an engaging experience off-the-shelf sensor captured eye head movement feedback on accuracy performance. A prospective, pilot pre-and post-treatment assessed Results Participants wanted summary report shared their clinicians, felt that app could help accountability, believed gaming format might exercise adherence. Clinicians should include features record track movement, monitor symptoms, score task performance, measure Validity digital PROs scores from CLIN across two sessions found have good validity, excellent test-retest reliability, usability (≥88%ile). demonstrated use hypofunction. mean system 82.5 indicating usability. Discussion Both adult patients receptive technology VRT. HiM-V feasible alternative management peripheral
