High-precision neural stimulation by a highly efficient candle soot fiber optoacoustic emitter

ABSTRACT
Highly precise neuromodulation with a high efficacy poses great importance in neuroscience. Here we developed candle soot fiber optoacoustic emitter (CSFOE), capable of generating pressure over 10 MPa central frequency 12.8 MHz, enabling highly efficient vitro. The design the emitter, including choice material and thickness layered structure, was optimized both simulations experiments. conversion efficiency CSFOE found to be times higher than other carbon-based emitters. Driven by single laser, can perform dual-site activation neurons, confirmed calcium (Ca2+) imaging. Our work opens potential avenues for more complex programmed control neural circuits using simple multisite vivo.
