ABSTRACT
Background Studies have suggested that children are less likely than adults to develop COVID-19; however, with the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants, hospitalization and death due this cause increased among youngest ones. Methods Retrospective, descriptive analytical study COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations deaths occurred in under five years who attended Child Day-Care Centers ( Centros de Atención Infantil- CAIs ) Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) from 20th July 2020 31st March 2023. Results were compared Mexico's US's national-level data. Incidence, attack (children workers) mortality rates estimated. The risks getting sick, being hospitalized dying calculated by year. There 4,369 cases IMSS CAIs; 67 (1.5%) required only two reported (0.04%). Both at a national level Mexico US, highest incidences during Omicron prevalence. rate workers (32.93%) was higher (4.99%).
