ABSTRACT
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic disease with high economic burden characterized by cartilage degradation and joint inflammation. Evodiamine (EV), which can be extracted from Evodia rutaecarpa (Rutaceae), traditional Chinese medicine to treat inflammation, cardiovascular disorders, infection, obesity. Studies have shown that EV suppress the activation of immune cells restrain secretion pro-inflammatory cytokines. However, it still not well known about its role in treatment OA. In this study, we utilized interleukin-1β (IL-1β)-stimulated mouse chondrocytes vitro destabilization medial meniscus (DMM) model vivo demonstrate anti-inflammatory properties The results suggested decreased generation NO, IL-6, TNF-α, PGE2. Meanwhile, increased expression iNOS, COX-2, MMP-13 aggrecan Col-II were significantly alleviated IL-1β-activated chondrocytes. Moreover, inhibit considerable IL-1β-stimulated phosphorylation NF-κB signaling pathway nuclear translocation p65, compared control group. Furthermore, degeneration reversed Research Society International (OARSI) scores OA vivo. Our study demonstrates inflammation OA, implies may potential candidate for
