ABSTRACT
The pathological mechanisms and treatments of osteoarthritis (OA) are critical topics in medical research. This paper reviews the regulatory hydrogen sulfide (H2S) OA therapeutic potential H2S donors. review highlights importance changes endogenous pathway development systematically elaborates on role as a third gaseous transmitter that regulates inflammation, oxidative stress, pain associated with OA. It also explains how can lessen bone joint inflammation by inhibiting leukocyte adhesion migration, reducing pro-inflammatory mediators, impeding activation key inflammatory pathways such nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Additionally, is shown to mitigate mitochondrial dysfunction endoplasmic reticulum modulate Nrf2, NF-κB, PI3K/Akt, MAPK pathways, thereby decreasing stress-induced chondrocyte apoptosis. Moreover, alleviates through Kv7, K-ATP, Nrf2/HO-1-NQO1 pathways. Recent developments have produced variety donors, including sustained-release natural synthetic Understanding lead discovery new targets, while innovative donors offer promising for patients
