ABSTRACT
Uridine is a pyrimidine nucleoside found in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid with concentration higher than the other nucleosides. As simple metabolite, uridine plays pivotal role various biological processes. In addition to nucleic acid synthesis, critical glycogen synthesis through formation of diphosphate glucose which promotes production UDP-GlcNAc hexosamine biosynthetic pathway supplies for O-GlcNAcylation. This process can regulate protein modification affect its function. Moreover, has an effect on body temperature circadian rhythms, metabolic rate expression genes. Abnormal levels blood have been people diabetes obesity, suggesting link dysregulation disorders. At present, metabolism lipid controversial, mechanism not clear, but it shows trend long-term damage short-term benefit. Therefore, maintaining homeostasis essential basic functions normal metabolism. article summarizes latest findings about effects potential as therapeutic target treatment
