ABSTRACT
Powdery mildew is a common disease affecting the commercial production of gerbera flowers (Gerbera hybrida, Asteraceae). Some varieties show certain degree resistance to it. Our objective was identify biomarkers powdery using an 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and chemometrics approach in complex, fully factorial experiment suggest target for selection breeding. Resistant were found differ from those that susceptible metabolites polyketide pathway, such as gerberin, parasorboside, gerberinside. A new compound probably involved resistance, 5-hydroxyhexanoic acid 3-O-β-D-glucoside, described first time. decision tree model built distinguish resistant varieties, with accuracy 57.7%, sensitivity 72%, specificity 44.44% independent test. results mechanism provide potential tool screening breeding programs.
