ABSTRACT
The Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Liviidae), is a key vector of the causal agents Huanglongbing (HLB), devastating disease affecting almost worldwide. Nicotiana tabacum L. an important commercial crop in China. Field observations suggested that D. adults die on N. leaves when grown nearby orchards. In this study, preference for and survivorship their feeding behavior were investigated. results showed attracted to green leaf volatiles (GLVs) ( Z )-3-hexenol E )-2-hexenol. survival was less than 30 h, which shorter without food (35 h) suitable host Murraya exotica (29 days). Electrical penetration graph (EPG) recordings revealed pathway phase consisted four waveforms—the non-probing (NP), (PP, including intercellular probing activity phloem (C) (D)), salivation (E1), ingestion (E2). only secreted saliva ingested sap from spent longest duration Moreover, L-nicotine, defense compound against insects plants, highly toxic . These plants could help sustainably control spread HLB growing around
